Jonathon Faso becomes first recipient of Pate Dawson Scholarship


Charlotte, N.C. – Spring, 2009 –The Pate Dawson Scholarship was formed at Johnson & Wales University's Charlotte campus out of the generosity of the Pate Dawson Company and its Chief Executive Officer, Mac Sullivan, who is also father of Joel Sullivan, a current Charlotte campus student. The fund, which awards two $5,000 scholarships annually, assists students who have completed their Associates Degree in Culinary Arts and are pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Food Service Management. The scholarship is awarded to those students who demonstrate exemplary academic, leadership and community service achievements, and who are residents of the state of North Carolina. This year's Pate Dawson Scholar is Jonathon Faso, a rising senior in the Food Service Management Program from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Applications are under review for the 2009-10 Pate Dawson Scholar. Johnson & Wales is honored to partner with the Pate Dawson Company to assist future leaders in the food service industry.

Pate Dawson hosts 2nd Annual Customer Retreat


Williamsburg, V.A. - October 20-22 - Pate Dawson’s 2nd Annual Customer Retreat in Colonial Williamsburg , held this past October, was a huge hit among participating customers, supplier partners and staff. The Customer Retreat concept was originated last year as a way for Pate Dawson Company to say "Thank you" to those long and loyal customers that have partnered with Pate Dawson Company over the years as well as to those new customers that understand the benefits of and are committed to a primary distributor relationship .

Pate Dawson Company Gives Back Through

Johnson & Wales University Scholarships

Charlotte, N.C. – September 4, 2008 – Pate Dawson Company, an independent foodservice distributor in Goldsboro, North Carolina, has announced its support of Johnson & Wales University-Charlotte Campus through student scholarships. Pate Dawson, which was founded in 1885 as a retail grocery operation and is now one of the largest food-service distributors in the Southeast, will award scholarships to students who have received their associate degree in culinary arts and are pursuing their bachelor degree in food service management. Pate Dawson Scholars will be in excellent academic standing, demonstrate leadership in the Charlotte community and must be residents of the state of North Carolina.

Mac Sullivan, Pate Dawson’s President and CEO, notes the significance of this award. "We believe that Johnson & Wales graduates have and will continue to make a big difference on the foodservice distribution industry," Sullivan says. "Our company has seen first-hand the value of a Johnson & Wales education, and we are excited about offering students opportunities to finish their education and contribute in meaningful ways to our industry. We are proud to partner with the Charlotte Campus in this effort."
